Changing Your Spots by Larry John
There is no question that the PAST is a great teacher. The ONE most important thing I have learned from my past is that it is hard for any of us to “change our spots”….that we are basically the same person we have been since we can remember. Our personality is basically the same. I would like to say I am getting wiser, smarter, more enlightened, nicer, and more loving…but what I really am is a wiser, smarter, more enlightened, nicer and more loving SAME OLD ME. The older my friends get, the longer they are the same old people they have always been….just older. They are just an older version of the same old version of what they were when they were younger. The leaders are still the leaders. The fearful are still the fearful. The dishonest are still the dishonest. The risk takers are still the risk takers. The show offs are still the show offs. The quiet ones are still the quiet ones. We may get older but no one really “changes their spots” much, if any. Why is that? Think about it.
