Dumbing Down by Larry John
Why is it that when we are young we seem to like people who are dumb. I don’t mean we like “really dumb people” but people who act dumb. The more outrageous they are; the more we like them. You know young boys love “dumb blondes.” They would never want to marry them, but they love to date them. Many times the most popular girls in school are those that do the stupidest things. Kids in high school tell me that if you are too smart it is impossible to be very popular. The “Dumbing Down” of America’s youth is real. Just watch any of the teen movies and you will see that being dumb is what we love to watch. Remember when you were in college, the main reason you were there was to “parrrrrtttteeee”. Being smart was not cool. But when we get older and become more responsible… well, the more we distance ourselves from the dumb. We search out the smart people among us. The dumb among us are no longer that popular. Think about it. |
