Expert Opinions

by Larry John

How can we have so many professionals and experts that don’t agree on any topic? How is it possible that the best minds in the nation can be 180 degrees opposite in their opinions?  I was listening to a debate today with some of our nation’s most credible economic experts concerning whether or not we should have higher interest rates or not. They couldn’t agree. They also could not agree on how much inflation is good for the economy. A few of these experts said that inflation was rolling along just fine and will help the nation. Another expert said that if inflation were to continue at the current rate we would be on track for an economic disaster. Shouldn’t experts agree? After all . . . they’re experts. Maybe it’s like the stock market. Nobody really knows the best stocks to buy, but the experts say they do. I guess all it takes to be an expert is to have an opinion and a few letters after your name. Think about it.
