Is This a Party?

by Larry John

Why are there so few political parties in the United States? When you think about it, there should be hundreds, if not thousands, of political parties in the United States. With a population of 200 million plus that is growing everyday, wouldn’t you think that there might be a few more parties? What is a party anyway? A party is just a group of “like minded” people who want to unite and encourage their way of thinking, right? Maybe it used to be, but no more! It is all about power, money and winning. It is more about “winning” than “thinking”. It is more about the candidate than the issues. It is more about the issues than the ideology. But one thing is for sure, most of us don’t vote based on ideology of political thought. If we did, there would definitely be many more parties. It is not about THINKING anymore, it is all about WINNING. And perhaps the more we WIN… the more we LOSE. Think about it.
