Lemons are Sour

by Larry John

What if you were talking to a person from the Arctic who has never tasted a lemon?  How would you explain what a lemon tasted like?  You might say, “….it tastes like an orange or a grapefruit.” To which they might say, “But I have never tasted an orange or a grapefruit. … It would become very clear very quickly that words will never help the man from the Arctic to know what a lemon tastes like until he actually tastes a lemon for himself.

So it is when we live in inflexible intellectual boxes of thought. It is like a chick breaking out of its shell. We have to learn how to pragmatically question or doubt our current thinking in order to see things more clearly. And that’s hard. The only thing standing in our way is our belief that we already know all answers. Yet the answers always change while the questions remain the same. "There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting." Think about it.
