Real Fear

by Larry John

Why is it that most of us love the rush of being frightened? The movie industry says there is a 90% probability of financial success if you make a horror movie. Politicians have understood the power of fear since the beginning of government. Most of our acceptance of government is based on the fear of our not having a strong government or a strong military which would make us vulnerable.  It is even harder for us to change Presidents during an election year if the fear of war and attack is looming over us. Politicians use fear of the unknown to make sure that we stay loyal to their causes, whether that is losing your social security benefits, your environment, or your human rights. We love to escape and be frightened at the movies, but in real life perhaps we need to fear less and think more. Think about it.
