Running for Fun

by Larry John

My whole family is into exercise now. My wife does an hour of exercise every morning. My older children all have personal trainers. My whole office goes to the gym to workout during lunch. Three in my family have their own personal nutritionist. Diet books top the list of best sellers. National food chains, which a year ago specialized in great fried food, now advertise their health conscious menus that are low in calories, carbs, sugar, fats, and in my opinion taste. I went to a party last week and the entire conversation the entire night was about working out and eating healthy. Michael J. Fox said in the movie Back to the Future III that people in the future actually “ran for fun” and people started to laugh. “Why would anyone run for fun?” I am sure that if you were to ask your grandfather what he did for exercise he would say, “I went out to the field and worked as hard as I could.” I guess they had more fields back then.  Think about it.
