The Devil Made Me Do It by Larry John I don’t know if you remember the comedian Flip Wilson. One of his comedy acts revolved around the line, “The Devil made me do it.” When you think about it . . . that is a great excuse. You can’t be expected to do the right thing when there is a devil that makes you do the wrong things. After all, we are just little human beings with so little power to control our actions and, let’s face it; the Devil is this big powerful dude. For example… “I wanted to just talk it out…but I had to hit that guy. I knew it was wrong, but the Devil made me do it. I knew I shouldn’t have cut the guy off in traffic, but the Devil made me do it. I knew I shouldn’t have lied, but the Devil made me do it.” The fact is that most of us love to blame others for the reasons we do wrong things. We blame our mother, father, sisters, teachers, and the list goes on. We can’t be expected to do the right thing; after all it is not our fault. We have no control over our own lives. Why is that? Think about it. |
