Truth on Truth by Larry John
The truth about truth is that what we believe to be true for most of our lives sometimes turns out to be false. I hold fast to the scientific or pragmatic method of proving truth. First and foremost, if we declare something to be true based solely on “feelings” …then the things we think are true have no more validity than what someone else thinks is true based on their feelings. Pragmatically, for a declaration of truth to be true, the truth must make some difference in our life. The fact is many of the effects or results of something being true would be exactly the same even if what we thought to be true… were false. The value of truth lies in the practical results and tangible experiences of life. If the truth makes no difference in the “experience” of life…it has no value whether true or false. And that’s the truth… Think about it. |
